Eke Pahikara (Cycle Skills)

 Instructions Of Safety

Helmet - Check your helmet to see if there are any cracks in the styrofoam should get a new helmet if there are any.

These are some of the abbreviations that I learned which are (ABCDDQ).

A for Air, you should always check the air compression in your wheels so there not gonna be flat when you're riding around.

B for Brakes, check your brakes so there good so that won't fail you when you want to slow down.

C for Chains, make sure your chain doesn't have rust so that your chain won't mock up.

D for Drop, it is a procedure to see if your bike has everything in place properly so it won't fall apart while you're riding your bike.

D for Direction, it is best to have your handlebar and wheel checked to if they will go the same way it doesn't you would be screwed if you try to turn.

Q for Quick Release, you got to make sure the quick release parts are tight so your wheels won't fall off.

The 4 L's mean

Look - To check if there are any cars on the road when you try to signal out.

Lean - You should lean your bike towards you so it is easier to get on your bike.

Leg Over - When you put your Leg Over you should always get into the "Peddle Ready" Position.

Levers - Make sure you check the Levers that there working.

The Question we were given

What should you do before going onto the road?

You must look behind you before you hop on your bike, once you're on the bike you immediately get into the "Peddle Ready" position, then you signal out to the right so you could pull out of the curb and ride on the road after you signal, look back again then you can go.

When you need to turn you should always pull out and from the side of the road into the middle so you're more visible to other cars behind you, make sure you always look back before you turn so you know what is behind you, at the same time you can see if cars are going to overtake you when you try to turn, but when you come to the side street that leads to your destination you should go forward more before you turn because it alerts other cars to wait for you.

Conclusion

It was very fun I would do it again if I had the chance.

If you wanna try it don't be afraid "Just Do It" and you won't forget it. - Leon
